Turkana University College was established on 27th January 2017 by Legal Notice No. 8 of 2017 as provided for in the Universities Act No. 42 of 2012 as a constituent College of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST). The university is the only public university located in Turkana County. This university is based in Lodwar town, the county’s headquarters along the Kitale – Lodwar Highway.
