How to Activate Family Bank Visa Prepaid Card (Procedure)

To activate your Family Bank Visa Prepaid Card, below is an outlined procedure that can be followed to complete the transaction. But before that, make sure your phone (M-PESA) is loaded fully with enough cash to complete the transaction.

  • Go to the Safaricom Menu on your handset (regardless of the phone being a smartphone or feature phone
  • Choose the M-PESA menu from the list
  • Select Lipa na M-PESA from the menu
  • Select the Paybill option that comes up
  • Enter Family Bank Business Number 222169
  • Under Account Number Enter your 16-digit card number (e.g. 4592 5300 **** ****) as the account number
  • Input the amount to top-up (Minimum is KES 200.00)
  • Key in your M-PESA PIN
  • Confirm the transaction (amount, Pay Bill number, card number) and then press OK
  • Await top-up confirmation message
  • Your card will be automatically activated after a successful top-up

You can now proceed to perform the transaction that you wanted to do using the Family Bank Prepaid Visa Card without having to visit the Bank. You can also deposit money directly to your Family Bank account using the M-PESA. Also, you can directly withdraw using *325# or the Pesapap App by the Bank.
