Are you a teacher and employed by TSC? TSC in Partnership with AON gave birth to MINET a medical insurance scheme targeting individuals working in the TSC. However, working in the Teachers Service Commission is not an automatic enrolment or registration into MINET. The MINET services allow the principal member who is the contributor to register and access medical treatment catered for the MINET. And in case the member wishes to have dependants such as children, spouse, etc. enrolled there’s a need for enrolling them too. In this article, you will learn how to add dependants on MINET medical scheme for teachers.

Only active dependants will access treatment. And these ones need to be added and documents uploaded to MINET Documents Portal. You can also check out the kind of documents that are required to activate or have the dependants enrolled. The registration procedure is easy and also enrolling dependants just as easy.

Requirements to Add Dependants on MINET

To add dependants, you need some information and details with you. These can include the dependant personal info and birth certificates etc. The documents include:-

  • Personal Information such as names, date of birth, gender, form of disability if they are special, and ID number for spouse
  • Birth Certificates for Children under the age of 18 years
  • Birth certificate and school ID for school-going children who are above 18 years
  • ID card and proof of Marriage for Spouse

Dependants will only be approved and listed as active once you’ve provided the documents above. Adding them will not make them active by default. The scheme needs to confirm if truly they are your dependants.

How to Add Dependants on MINET

If you need the add dependants, try following the steps outlined below. All you need is the personal details to add them as this procedure is not done online. Note also that you need credit to access the MINET USSD code and be able to enroll dependants.

  • Open the Dialer on your phone
  • Dial *865# and if you’re not registered as a principal member you will be prompted to do so. Make sure you use Airtel or Safaricom number that has been registered with MINET service.
  • On the list of menu displayed, you can be able to check My Dependants, Register New Dependants
  • Select Register Dependant and you will be asked to provide the dependants Type i.e. Child or Spouse.
  • After selecting the dependant type, key in the dependant’s names, date of birth, gender, disability status, ID number if more than 18 years
  • Confirm that the details you filled are correct and submit.
  • Thereafter, MINET Kenya will send you a message confirming that the dependant has been added. A link for updating the documents online through the MINET documents portal is sent via SMS. You can use it to add the documents.
