eCitizen allows applications for a series of services online. These services range from driving license, good conduct, business registration and so much more. This portal allows applications for birth certificates and death certificates online as well. In this article, you will learn how to apply for a birth certificate on the eCitizen portal and how long you should wait before collection.
There are requirements for doing this and not all counties can apply for birth certificates online at the moment. This feature is only available for births and deaths happening in Nairobi County. The applications are done online but collection is physical for the birth certificates at select offices.
Requirements to Apply for Birth Certificate on eCitizen
To apply for a birth certificate online, please note that you require the following documents and information.
- Have an eCitizen Account or create one for yourself
- Have a birth notification
- Scanned copy of the birth notification.
- Scanned copy of the identification Documents for applicants above 18 years i.e National ID, Passport
- Scanned copy of the parent’s Identification Documents
- An application fee of Kshs. 180
How to Apply for a Birth Certificate using eCitizen
- Open your PC or Phone Browser preferably Chrome
- Type in the address bar the eCitizen URL or simply visit https://accounts.ecitizen.go.ke
- Click on Login for those with eCitizen accounts. Those without can create one to enable them to apply for birth certificates
- Enter your ID number and eCitizen password and click on Login, send an OTP to email or phone, and key it in for authorization.
- Once on the eCitizen dashboard scroll down to Civil Registration Services – https://dcrs.ecitizen.go.ke/dashboard
- Permit your account to access the information on Civil Registration Services
- Click on Current Birth Certificate and scroll down and click on Next
- Select Type of Application (New Birth Certificate or Replacement)
- Choose the Pick-Up location (Huduma GPO, ACK Bishop House, Huduma Makadara, Huduma Kibera, Huduma City Square, Huduma Eastleigh)
- Enter Residential Address (place of residence)
- Click Next and fill in the required details on this page and click on Next
- Upload the scanned documents and submit
- Then Pay the required fees to complete the application. Wait for communication via SMS if the birth certificate is ready.
