Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) is an institution in Kenya that offers student loans for students who are pursuing higher education. It offers loans to students from the artisan, craft level to masters degree. HELB is one of the institutions that determine if one is compliant with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya. A HELB Compliance Certificate is required when applying for certain jobs. The company usually requires the candidates for employment i.e. those shortlisted to provide the said documents. But who does one get the Clearance Certificate? The procedure is simple and can be done on phone or PC as long as you have a stable internet connection.
Requirements to Apply for a HELB Compliance Certificate
- An active email address for those without HEF account
- Identity Card No (ID No)
- Valid Phone
- Access to Internet Connection
How to Apply for HELB Compliance Certificate Online via HELB Portal
The government changed the HELB application portal to the HEF portal, however, it works just the same way. The procedure is for those who already have an activated HEF or HELB account. Here is a procedure on how to register a HELB account online. The procedure for requesting a HELB clearance certificate is as follows: –
- Open your Browser on your Phone or PC
- In the URL bar type in the HEF Student Portal – or click on the link – https://portal.hef.co.ke/auth/signin
- Enter your registered email and HEF account password and click on Login
- On the logged in Dashboard, on the left menu scroll down and locate the menu item Self Service click on it to reveal sub-menus
- Click on Compliance Certificate and wait for the page to load to display your status. If you got a loan balance, this is the place where you will be notified of the amount. The link is https://portal.hef.co.ke/service/index/frm_comp_cert
- Once loaded click on Get Certificate to print the HELB Compliance Certificate
