How to Apply for a Reflective Number Plate on eCitizen

There’s a government directive that requires motor vehicle owners to change their motor vehicle number plates to new ones. The NTSA Portal on eCitizen allows individuals to not only apply for a driver’s license but be able to change the number plates as well. In this article, we are going to share how to apply for a Reflective number Plate on eCitizen’s NTSA Portal.

Motor Vehicle owners need to pay Kshs. 3050 for a pair of the number plates. That’s, the rear number plate and the front number plate. For motorbikes which have only one plate number would require one to pay 1550 for the reflective number plate application online.

Requirements to Apply for a Reflective Number Plate on eCitizen

• Have an eCitizen account and password.
• Be in possession of the motor vehicle Logbook
• Have photos of the vehicle plates number i.e. the front plate and the back plate
• Application fee of Kshs. 3050 for motor vehicle and 1550 for motorcycles

How to Apply for a Reflective Number Plate on NTSA through eCitizen

The step by step guide can be done by anyone. As long as the individual has an eCitizen account and the password is known. they can also reset the password just in case they don’t remember.  Check out the procedure of applying Reflective number Plate online.

• Open your computer or phone Browser preferably Chrome
• Search for eCitizen or simply click on the link – https://accounts.ecitizen.go.ke and click on Login
• Fill in your ID number or email registered during the creation of the ecitizen account. Key in the eCitizen Password and click on Login
• On the eCitizen Dashboard, click on National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) New or simply click this link https://serviceportal.ntsa.go.ke and authorize login through eCitizen
• Once the NTSA Portal is loaded fully, locate the vehicle you wish to apply the new number plate for. Click on View
• On the Motor Vehicle details page, click on Motor Vehicle Services
• On the first service, Click on the apply link on the Reflective Number Plate button.
• The portal will display the vehicle Details and if the vehicle model is missing ask you to fill it up as it appears on the Logbook and upload the Logbook copy in PDF.
• Select Reflective Number Plate otherwise you will apply for lost or defaced plate numbers. Select the type of number plate i.e. Oblong (Rectangular) and Square (mostly at the back of the vehicle and yellow one). Upload documents.
• Select Place of Number Plate collection Place and choose mode of notification either phone or email or both.
• Key in the ID number and the first name of the person authorized to collect and search. Enter their phone number and email and confirm.
• Once satisfied, click on Complete/Submit and pay the required amount and click on Complete to print the Reflective Number Plate receipt.
