The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is a statutory body established under the Kenya Roads Act of 2007 and inaugurated in September 2008. KeNHA is responsible for the development, rehabilitation, management, and maintenance of all National Trunk Roads comprising Class S, A, and B roads. KeNHA allows individuals or businesses in the transport industry to apply for exemption permits in such cases as wide loads or tall loads on top of vehicles.   • The first step as outlined above is to make sure you have the required documents with you. These documents are the vehicle registration document (logbook), insurance certificate, and valid motor vehicle inspection. You can also learn how to do motor vehicle inspection booking.
  • Head over to your browser and search for the KeNHA website or simply visit https://kenha.co.ke/
  • Once loaded, scroll down to the Quick Links or online services and click on Permits Portal – https://permits.kenha.co.ke:7080/
  • The permits portal fully loaded, enter your email and password for the KeNHA permits portal to login. If not proceed to register an account and activate it.
  • Check out the Permits Portal dashboard. Apply for KeNHA Exemption Permit
  • On the left side, click on the menu Exemption Permits
  • Click on New Permit Application fill in the necessary vehicle details as shown in the image below and click on Next Apply for KeNHA Exemption Permit
  • Proceed to upload all the required documents and submit your application. Once done the process will show the status as Applied.
  • Wait for KeNHA to process your application and always check the status. And if updated to pending Payment, pay the application fee and submit for approval.
