Some years ago, the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) made it mandatory for all sim cards to be registered and validated. This meant that the Mobile Network Providers would provide means of the customers updating their details and knowing numbers registered on their ID number. Do you know that you can have as many as 5 numbers registered on a single identity card. In this article we outline ways on how to check phone numbers registered on your ID number.
For those who lack smartphones they can even use USSD code for the same purpose. The procedure can be checked through the USSD code which is *106# and also can be done on smartphones too. We outline the procedure as follows.
How to Check Phone Numbers registered on your ID using *106#
This allows you to see how many numbers are registered to your ID and how many are active. Note that you won’t be seeing the full number but some last 3 numbers and part of the start.
- Dial *106# on your Phone
- In the next pop up menu select option 1 Check Registration Status
- Once done, an SMS will be sent to your phone number listing the numbers with the last 3 digits being visible
- The message comes from the network provider being it Safaricom or Airtel and also confirms if compliant or not
Secondly, you can also check for the numbers registered on your ID using the online portals. These includes: –
- For Safaricom, download the mySafaricom App and under Account provide click on Check Registration Status. You can also use the web portal through the link provided by the service provider. Follow the link https://myaccount.safaricom.co.ke/account/kyc-upload
- For Airtel subscribers the procedure is simple just as the one above. Just download myAirtel app and also do the same to confirm registration status. It also has the online KYC portal that allows upload of IDs. The portal link is https://www.airtelkenya.com/lp/kyc/
