Motor Vehicle Search or Motor Vehicle Copy of Records is the document that one gets when they query for vehicle information from NTSA. Motor Vehicle Search is important when a person is intending to purchase a vehicle and wants to confirm the vehicle Details against the Logbook. It is also used in a court law as security for releasing someone on bond. Or if the vehicle has been involved in an accident and so many other uses.
Introduction of NTSA services on eCitizen brought about many changes and also changed slightly these documents. The current motor vehicle search copy of records document is different from the one that was done on TIMS. The motor vehicle search is usually charged at Kshs. 550 payable through eCitizen.
Requirements to do Motor Vehicle Copy of Records Search on eCitizen
To do a copy of records search, there are requirements you need to have. Apart from that, you also need to be logged into an eCitizen account to be able to perform the said service.
- An active eCitizen account to access the NTSA Portal on eCitizen
- The vehicle registration number or chassis number
- Motor vehicle search application fees – Kes. 550

Searching for the wrong vehicle registration will still give the records if the number exists. So it is prudent that one makes sure the number is correct to avoid paying twice for the service that would have been done only once.
