UPI is a Unique Personal Identifier that is given to each learner to keep track of their progress from the basic level to the highest level of education. The UPI number is assigned by NEMIS – National Education Management Information System that manages learners, and institutions and enables accountability and transparency. Each student has a UPI number attached to them. This is important when accessing treatment with EduAfya. Additionally, for any transfer of school to happen you need the UPI number. We share how to get NEMIS UPI numbers for students on the NEMIS portal.
The NEMIS portal allows schools to enroll students through their system and then see them transition from one class to the next. Schools have passwords assigned to them by the Ministry of Education. Once the password has been forgotten it can only be reset by the Ministry of Education workers in the sub-counties or county.
How to Get NEMIS UPI NUMBER
Whenever you wish to transfer your child to another school, the new school will require you to have the UPI number. It can be hard to get one if the school they are leaving there’s fee balances or some differences. Getting the UPI number can be hard that way.
Way 1: How to Get UPI Number Online
The first and easiest way to get your child’s UPI number is by visiting the school where they are studying. The school will give you the NEMIS UPI number assigned to the child. This is available on the school’s NEMIS portal. The school will only need to log in and search for the student in the specific class they belong to.
Way 2: Use Another School to Get UPI number
If you have another school who are willing to find the details for you or the school the child is transferring to. They can get the UPI details for the child. The school can access its NEMIS portal and under the learners’ menu. Click on the menu for Receiving Cleaners and key in the birth certificate entry number.
The NEMIS portal will search for the details in the database and prompt you with the names, schools, and UPI numbers for the student.
