How to Pay NHIF Contributions via M-PESA for Companies

The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) exists to offer medical insurance to Kenyans who make monthly contributions. Apart from individual contributions, businesses and companies can submit contributions for employees. This can be done directly through M-PESA using the government paybill number 222222 via the eCitizen Payment Platform. In this article, you will learn How to Pay NHIF Contributions via M-PESA for Companies and Small Business Enterprises.

To make payment for the company’s employees, the company needs to be registered with NHIF and be given an Employer Code and Password to use on the portal. The payment slip number is generated from the NHIF Byproduct Portal. The portal helps generate an NHIF E-slip to be able to pay for several employees at the same time.

To note, however, you need an Excel list of employees and their ID numbers plus the contribution amount. The list should be in the correct format given by NHIF to enable contribution to reflect on the specific person.
