National Council for People with Disability (NCPWD) has also been linked to eCitizen. Persons with disability can now register for free using the eCitizen portal and be issued with an ID for identification purposes. Apart from these, you can also register for Tax Exemption on eCitizen’s NCPWD portal. In this article, we focus on how to Register as a Person with Disability using eCitizen Portal.
For the registration to happen there are several factors and considerations before approval of registration as a PWD. This involves having to visit public hospitals and have a medical report or history detailing the kind of disability one possesses. Application for registration as a person with disability happens online and it is free of charge to apply for registration on eCitizen.
Requirements to Register as a Person with Disability on eCitizen
Like earlier said, before application one MUST provide documentary evidence from a medical facility confirming the disability they have. Apart from these, there are other requirements that one has to fulfill before starting the application online via eCitizen. The requirements for registration as a PWD include: –
- One MUST have an eCitizen account
- A Disability medical assessment report from a government-gazetted hospital signed by the County Director of Medical services
- National ID for persons above 18 years
- Birth Certificate for Minors
- Passport-size Photograph (JPEG/PNG)
How to Apply for Registration as a Person with Disability using eCitizen
This is where the procedure for the above process is noted down and the application process done. The process is simple and can be done on a mobile phone or PC or laptop. If you experience issues, you can visit the nearest cyber cafe for assistance. The procedure is as follows:-
- Open your Browser on Mobile or PC
- In the browser URL bar, type in NCPWD eCitizen or simply click on https://ncpwd.ecitizen.go.ke/dashboard and once loaded click on Login using eCitizen or you can just use the OTP option
- Proceed to key in your ID number and follow the prompts that follow thereafter and allow permission to access the system.
- Once the NCPWD portal on eCitizen is fully loaded, click on Register as a Person with Disability and wait for it to load the next step.
- Choose Adult or Minor depending on the applicant’s specifics. Remember anyone above 18 years need their own eCitizen account.
- Enter area of residence and birth and proceed to declare next of kin captured on the Medical Assessment report.
- Once done, the last page requires you to upload the above documents – Passport, ID/Birth Certificate, Medical Assessment and submit
- On the Verification Stage, NCPWD assesses and verifies upon approval sending progress to the applicant probably within some few days.
