How to update HEF/HELB Profile

Before application of HELB loan through the HEF portal, there are requirements that one must satisfy or have filled to be able to apply for the loan. This includes updating the HELB profile to completion before submission of the HELB loan application. In this article, we share how to Update the HEF profile for HELB loan application. The current application profile requires one to submit the application online without the need of physically submitting the hard copy at Huduma Centre.

The HEF loan application is simple and requires documents to be uploaded online. This removes the need for physical submission of the forms at HELB offices or huduma Centres countrywide. The documents are not complicated and they are really available documents.

Requirements to update HEF Profile

To update the HEF or HELB profile online, there are requirements that you need to do so. These requirements include but are not limited to personal details and area of residence. Some documents and important HEF requirements details are outlined in the list below.

  • An active email with password
  • Passport Photo on white background, in the Specifications of 300 x 250 pixels (applicant)
  • Application ID card both front and back
  • If your parent(s) is/are deceased you need a burial permit or death certificate and your birth certificate
  • Complete KCSE index number and the county, sub county, location, and sub location of the secondary school you studied in.
  • Complete KCPE index number plus the physical location of the school i.e. county, division, constituency, location, sub location
  • For government-sponsored students, you need the application course code on KUCCPS to confirm that you’re a government-sponsored student and University or College Details

How to Update the HEF Portal for HELB loan application

The procedure below outlines how one can register an HEF account, activate email, and update the HEF portal online.

  • On your browser i.e. PC or Mobile Browser find the HEF website at https://hef.co.ke
  • Locate the HEF Student Portal and click on the link or simply click on https://portal.hef.co.ke
  • Once it is loaded, if you lack an account click on Register and enter your ID number and first name to verify your details against the National Registry Database. Enter your Email and Password then click on Register
  • Proceed to your email to confirm your account through the link sent to the email from HEF
  • Login to the HEF portal using the email and password you set after activation. Fill in your other personal details and upload your passport Photo and on the personal details page, upload the ID as well and submit.
  • Proceed by filing each tab to the end and on the parents tab, make sure you enter your parent’s ID number, names and phone numbers that read their official names and once filled click on the complete button.
  • Once the profile is complete you will be able to apply for the loan and an email confirming the same will be sent to your email.
