MINET Membership Eligibility Criteria

MINET is a medical insurance scheme provided for employees in the teaching fraternity under TSC. The scheme allows principal members to add up to 5 dependants to their medical scheme. Only 5 dependants can be accommodated per one principal contributor. Ideally, that will include 4 children and a spouse (1 legal spouse). Find out the MINET Membership Eligibility criteria. However, not all individuals are eligible for membership with MINET medical scheme. In this article, we outline the MINET membership eligibility criteria. These are the only qualified dependants to be listed on MINET. Additionally, also the eligibility in terms of age and other information.

MINET Membership Eligibility Criteria

We outline below the criterion that one can use to determine if they are qualified to be members of MINET. For principal member, there’s also qualification criteria for the same.

Principal Member Eligibility Criteria

  • All teachers in active service aged 18 years and above, up to the mandatory retirement age.
  • One (1) legal spouse of the teacher
  • Four (4) dependent children (biological/legally adopted) are eligible for cover from birth until the age of eighteen (18) years or to the age of twenty (25) years if residing with their parents and enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • No maximum age limit shall apply to child dependants with a disability.

MINET Dependant’s Supporting Documents

1. Spouses

  • Marriage or Kadhi certificate or an Affidavit letter from Commissioner for Oaths/Magistrates for customary marriages

2. Children

  • Birth notification/ legal adoption for children below 6 months
  • Birth certificate/ legal adoption for children above 6 months and below 18 years
  • Proof of Schooling and a birth certificate for Children above 18years and below 25years
  • Disability Card for disabled children
