Murang’a University of Technology (MUT) was chartered on October 7th, 2016 at Statehouse, Nairobi by H.E. Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, C.G.H., President and Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Forces of the Republic of Kenya. Following the award of the charter, MUT became one of the thirty-one (31) Chartered Public Universities in Kenya. Murang’a University of Technology, formerly Murang’a University College (MRUC), was established in September 2011 as a Constituent College of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). Murang’a University College was a successor to Murang’a College of Technology (MCT), established in 1975.

The University has various intakes and allows students to apply for admission through the application form provided on the university website. The students then fill and scan the application form and mail to the institution alongside proof of payment for the registration fee. Additionally, the institution also receives students from KUCCPS to pursue their courses under government sponsorship.
