The Nursing Council of Kenya is a body corporate established by the Nurses and Midwives Act Cap 257 of the Laws of Kenya to regulate standards of nursing & midwifery education and practice. The purpose of the Nursing Council is to regulate and enforce standards in nursing and midwifery education and practice that inspire public safety and confidence. Nursing Council of Kenya has an NCK Online Services Portal that allows nurses to registration and licensing, renewal, examination and so many more.

The NCK Online Services Portal is the portal that allows students and practitioners to access the services that we will list in this article. The Nursing Council of Kenya Online Services Portal allows individuals to strictly apply for indexing, registration and licensing, private practice and so much more. The Nursing Council also has a CPD portal that allows for nurses to attend training and acquire points that will be required for renewal.

NCK Online Service Portals – Services

The Nursing Council has an online services portal. The services done through this portal include: –

  1. Student Indexing
  2. Registration and Licensing
  3. Examination Booking and Application
  4. Compliance and Professionalism
  5. Search for Existing Nurses/Practitioners
  6. Approved institutions and so much more

Requirements for Registration of Nurses/Midwives

To register as a Nurse or Midwife, you need the following documents. Application for registration done through NCK Online Services Portal. You require a Result slip, online application, and payments for registration & licensure.

For the four categories of BScN:-

  1. KRCHN (B) to BScN graduates shall do a direct application for registration and don’t required to go for an internship.
  2. RN/M to BScN graduates proceeds for 15 weeks of self-sponsored internship in community health nursing
  3. RN to BSN graduates proceed for 27 weeks of self-sponsored internship in midwifery and community health nursing
  4. Basic BSCN must complete a 1-year internship (MOH or self-sponsored)
  5. Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing

NB: The internship should be completed before registration, subject to passing NCK LICENSURE EXAM.
