Application for the Kenyan Passport (East African Passport) requires that an online application form is filled out through eCitizen. Additionally, there are passport application requirements, documents and fees that are essential during passport application. The passports exist in categories based on the number of pages that determine the application fee. The passport application documents are the same across all passports.
The passport application usually done online by filling the online forms. Uploading of essential documents is also done online and upon payment, a copy of the invoice and the form are printed out. The form and the invoice alongside the passport application documents (copies) are submitted at the nearest Immigration Offices.
Passport Application Requirements
Before anyone can apply for a passport, any Kenyan Citizen above the age of 18 years should register for an eCitizen account. Application for children under the age of 18 years done using the parent’s eCitizen account.
Other details required during passport application include:
- Personal Details such as Names, Height, Color of Eyes, Place of Birth, Birth Entry Number, Location, Sub Location and occupation and so much more.
- Residential Details: – Place of Residence, Location, Sub Location/Village, E-mail, phone number etc
- Parent’s Details: For parents, you will their names, ID numbers, Phone Number, Email address, passport number (for those with one) and postal address
- Next of Kin: Full Names, ID number, Division, Location, Phone Number, E-mail address, postal address and the relationship
- Children: – if you have any children you need their Full Names, Date of Birth, Place of Birth and Place of Birth
Passport Application Documents
Before you submit your passport application, you need the following documents. The documents scanned, and uploaded onto the Department of Immigration Services portal on eCitizen. The documents are as outlined below: –
- Applicant Passport Photo (White/Plain background)
- Applicant’s Signature on white piece of paper
- Applicant’s ID Card (Front and Back)
- Parent’s ID Card (if deceased death certificate)
- Birth Certificate
- For those looking to renew passport apart from the above you will need, the Old Passport (last four pages)
