Busia County is one of the few counties that had no university at all until the entry of Alupe University then as a constituency college (campus) of Moi University. The only university in Busia is Alupe University which is fully chartered and the only Public University in the county. The University offers training in various courses from Certificate courses, Diploma courses, Degree and Master’s Degree and PhD as well. Those who did not merit to join the university in KCSE can join the colleges in Busia.

Those who didn’t even sit for KCSE have courses they can undertake at the technical and vocational schools. The county lacks a polytechnic but it has a university and the only university in the county.
